The Seattle Mariners continue a road trip on Sunday with game four of four against the Houston Astros. Seattle comes into Sunday seven games above .500 riding a two game losing streak after a blowout 11-1 loss to Houston on Friday. Robbie Ray got the start for Seattle giving up four runs on five hits across 2.2 innings of work leading to the loss. The Seattle bullpen was obliterated as well allowing seven more runs on ten hits over the final 5.1 inning of the game.
Offensively Seattle was terrible from the plate with only six hits in 32 at bats including 1-7 with runners in scoring position to leave six men on base. Rookie sensation Julio Rodriguez was the only sign of life for the Seattle offense with two hits and four at bats to drive in the lone Seattle run.
The Houston Astros come into Sunday rolling as one of the best teams in the American League 31 games over .500 following the win over Seattle. Justin Verlander continued his dominance this season allowing only one run on five hits across 7.2 innings of work to secure his 14th victory of the year.
