The Seattle Kraken are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning Monday night. Seattle fell 3-2 on the road to Florida Saturday night in their previous contest. Tampa Bay blanked San Jose 6-0 at home in their most recent game Thursday night. The Lightning has won all four previous meetings between the teams, including a 4-1 road triumph in the most recent matchup back on January 16, 2023.

Seattle dropped their second straight game as they were unable to take down Florida on the road Saturday night in their most recent contest. The Kraken dropped to 2-5-2 on the season and are fifth in the Pacific Division, 11 points behind Vegas for the top spot. Seattle entered Sunday 28th in the league in goals for as they average a paltry 2.22 goals per contest on the season. The Kraken are 22nd in the league in goals against as they give up an average of 3.33 goals per game this season. Seattle is 15th in power play success as they cash in on 20% of their opportunities with the man advantage. The Kraken are tied for 15th in penalty kill rate to this point of the season as they have gotten through 79.2% of their shorthanded situations successfully.

Against Florida, Seattle battled but was unable to do enough to earn the victory on the road Saturday night . The Kraken were outshot 15-14 in the opening period of play but skated off with a 1-0 lead on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of play. Jared McCann opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season at 7:58 off assists from Yanni Gourde and Will Borgen. In the second period, the Kraken was outshot 13-3 and outscored 2-1 to leave the game even at two at the second intermission. Eeli Tolvanen made it a 2-0 game with his first goal of the season at 7:34 off assists from Jaden Schwartz and Borgen. The Kraken gave up two goals 11 seconds apart later in the period to tie the game. In the third period, Seattle held a 15-10 shot advantage but gave up the lone goal of the period to end up with the loss. Joey Daccord made 35 saves for the Kraken, who were outshot 38-32, in the loss. Philipp Grubauer is expected to get the start in goal for the Kraken in this contest.
