Seattle Kraken (0-2-0) vs. St. Louis Blues (0-0-1)

The first weekend of the 2023-24 NHL season starts with a loaded Saturday slate, as 28 teams will take the ice, so we are taking a closer look at the Western Conference showdown from Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, to get you the best Kraken vs. Blues betting pick and odds.

The bookies are expecting to see a tight battle, and the Blues are listed as slight -111 moneyline favorites. The Kraken are +100 road underdogs, while the total sits at 6.5 goals.

The Seattle Kraken visited the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Vegas Golden Knights, on the opening night and suffered a 4-1 defeat. Seattle outshot Vegas 33-28, but it was a bad performance, as the Golden Knights had a 3-0 lead after just 1:20 of play in the second period.

Last Thursday, the Kraken were blanked by the Nashville Predators 3-0 in a pick ‘em contest at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Seattle took just 23 shots on the night and couldn’t find a way past Juuse Saros, while Philipp Grubauer turned 32 of 34 shots aside.

Grubauer is now 0-2-0 with a 2.55 GAA and a .918 save percentage on the young season. He’s expected to patrol the crease Saturday in St. Louis, and the 31-year-old netminder is 4-4-2 with a 2.79 GAA and a .898 save percentage in ten career appearances against the Blues. Joey Daccord, who was 2-1-1 in four starts last season, should serve as a backup.
