Seattle Kraken (1-2-2) vs. Colorado Avalanche (2-1-1)

Seattle and Colorado open their three-game regular-season series on Friday night with the puck drop at 9:00 PM ET at Ball Arena in Denver, so we are taking a closer look at this Western Conference battle to get you the best Kraken vs. Avalanche betting pick and odds.

The Kraken are listed as huge +240 moneyline underdogs with a total of 6.5 goals. You can take them at -105 to beat the puckline, while the Avalanche sit at -270 moneyline odds.

The Seattle Kraken extended their losing streak to three games following Wednesday’s 4-3 overtime defeat to the St. Louis Blues. Playing as +135 home dogs, the Kraken yielded three first-period goals and rallied from a two-goal deficit to force overtime, but Justin Falk scored his second goal on the night to lift St. Louis over Seattle.

The Kraken outshot the Blues 35-28. They killed all three power-play opportunities but failed to convert their lone man advantage. Through their first five outings in 2022-23, the Kraken have scored six power-play goals on 19 attempts, but they’ve also allowed seven power-play goals on 20 attempts.

Goaltending was a big issue for Seattle in its first NHL season. This time around, the Kraken rank 29th in the league in save percentage (.863). Martin Jones yielded four goals on 28 shots against the Blues, raising his GAA to 3.70, while Philipp Grubauer is 0-1-1 with an awful 4.27 GAA and .851 save percentage in three appearances this season.

In his first season in Seattle, Andre Burakovsky has already accounted for three assists and a couple of goals. The 27-year-old winger spent the last three years in Colorado, scoring 61 goals in 191 regular-season games.
