Saquon Barkley projections 2022: Fantasy stats, betting odds, New York Giants player profile, season outlook, simulations

Saquon Barkley took the NFL by storm in his rookie season, playing all 16 games for the New York Giants, combining for more than 2,000 rushing / receiving yards, scoring 15 touchdowns, catching 91 passes, and winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018.

Since then, the former Penn State star has only played in 28 of 49 games, totaling slightly more than 2,300 combined yards in those three seasons. Now entering a contract season with his only NFL team, the verdict is out as to wheth er the talented running back can stay healthy or be known as a one year wonder.

New Giants head coach Brian Daboll has been an offensive savant of late, most recently as the offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills and before that with the dominant college football power, Alabama. But there's only so much he can do to save Barkley's career, especially if the running back can't stay healthy.

The likelihood of him ever achieving another 2,000 combined yard season seems unlikely, and though the upside is apparent especially in PPR leagues, Barkley's significant injury risk makes him only a worthwhile target in best ball leagues. Otherwise it's better off to steer clear for at least the first five rounds.
