San Jose State Spartans (16-11) vs. Nevada Wolf Pack (20-7)

The 2022-23 NCAA men’s basketball season continues Tuesday, February 21, with the San Jose State Spartans taking on the Nevada Wolf Pack in the Mountain West Conference showdown at Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada.

The Spartans and Wolf Pack meet for the second time this season, and Nevada opens as a firm 8-point home fave with a total of 135.5 points. Back in January, Nevada routed SJSU 67-40 as a 2-point road favorite, extending its winning streak over the Spartans to four games.

The San Jose State Spartans (16-11; 17-9 ATS; 7-7 conf.) have been hit-or-miss over the last few weeks, going 3-3 SU and ATS in their previous six games overall. During that stretch, the Spartans have outlasted Wyoming 84-64, Utah State 69-64, and UNLV 75-66 while losing against San Diego State 72-51, Fresno State 70-62, and New Mexico 96-68.

The Spartans are coming off Friday’s heavy home loss to the New Mexico Lobos. Playing as small 1.5-point favorites, the Spartans shot just 31.4% from the field (6-for-27 from deep) and 66.7% from the foul line (18-for-27). They had a whopping 29 offensive rebounds but couldn’t avoid an embarrassing loss. The Spartans couldn’t stop anything, and the Lobos were scoring at will (60.7 FG%). Junior guard Omari Moore led SJSU with 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while junior center Ibrahima Diallo had 12 points and nine boards.

SJSU is now tied with New Mexico for the No. 5 seed in the Mountain West Conference. The Spartans tally 68.1 points per game in the conference play (8th in the MWC) on 42.6% shooting from the field (10th) and allow 69.7 points in return (5th) on 45.4% shooting from the field (5th). Per KenPom, the Spartans score 111.0 points per 100 possessions (71st in the nation) while yielding 104.7 points in return (164th). SJSU is No. 104 in the KenPom rankings and No. 105 in the NCAA NET Rankings.
