San Jose State vs. Fresno State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-15-2022

The Fresno State Bulldogs (1-4) will host the San Jose State Spartans (4-1) on Saturday in Mountain West action. Last season Fresno State beat San Jose State 40-9 as a seven-point favorite.

San Jose State was selected to finish third behind Fresno State and San Diego State in the West Division. So far the Spartans look like the team to beat sitting in first place on the west side at 2-0, with Boise State 3-0 on the other side of the conference. After beating Portland State 21-17 to open the season, San Jose State dropped its only game at Auburn (24-16) as a 24-point dog. The Spartans have not had a letdown since, currently on a three-game winning streak with victories over Western Michigan (34-6), Wyoming (33-16), and UNLV (40-7).

San Jose State hangs its hat on the defensive end ranking 16th with 288 total yards allowed per game and 10th giving up just 14 ppg. They have done an excellent job of only allowing 156 passing yards per game, which is sixth in the nation, and 49th giving up 132 yards per game on the game.

San Jose State has not thrown an interception this season, led by quarterback Chevan Cordeiro who played at Hawaii from 2018-2021. Cordeiro has completed 58.6% of his passes with six touchdowns but he has been sacked 17 times. He also leads the team with six rushing touchdowns and is second with 186 yards on 3.1 yards per carry.
