San Jose Sharks vs. Washington Capitals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-12-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Super Bowl

The San Jose Sharks face the Washington Capitals with both teams looking to improve from rocky seasons. The Sharks have a 16-26-11 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games have fallen to the bottom of the Pacific Division. The Capitals have a 28-20-6 record and with back-to-back wins have leaped into fourth place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to continue to improve in their divisions and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Sharks are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.04 goals per game. Timo Meier, Logan Couture, and Tomas Hertl have scored 63 goals and 76 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Alexander Barbanov, Kevin Labanc, and Nico Sturm have scored 29 goals and 46 assists while defenseman Erik Karlsson has added 17 goals and 53 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.74 goals per game including seven goals in the last two games. Erik Karlsson and Matt Benning have combined for 4.0 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender James Reimer has struggled with a .895 save percentage and a 3.31 goals-against average on 883 shots with -9.9 goals sa ved above average.
