San Jose Sharks (17-27-11) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (32-18-4)

The 2022-23 NHL season goes on with an eight-game Thursday card and brings this Pacific Division clash from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada when the San Jose Sharks take on the Vegas Golden Knights at 10:00 p.m. ET.

These teams met twice early in the year with the road team winning both contests. San Jose earned a 5-2 victory in Vegas on November 15. They came in as significant underdogs (+221). The Golden Knights are the favorite in this contest as well at -230 with the total not set at the time this preview was written.

The San Jose Sharks returned home after an eight-game road trip, but continued their struggles at home, losing 3-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. San Jose is now 5-13-7 at home, and have been better on the road (12-14-4). The team is 2-2-0 in February.

With Kaapo Kahkonen out with an injury and James Reimer battling a touch of the flu, Aaron Dell (0-3-0, 2.71, .913) got the start and played well, stopping 25 of 27 shots. Pittsburgh scored a goal in each period and Timo Meier had the lone goal for the Sharks, his 31st of the year. Erik Karlsson did not have a point in the game, snapping a four-game point streak that saw the defenseman record nine total points.

San Jose is struggling on both ends of the ice, ranked 21st in goals per game (3.02) and 29th in goals allowed per contest (3.67). It has been hit or miss for this offense this month as they have scored four goals in two of the games, but have been held to a single goal in the other two. The Sharks have been very good at killing off penalties, ranked fourth at 83.1%.
