The Sharks are having a terrible season with their offense letting them down, scoring only 1.33 goals per game with only three goals in the last three games. Tomas Hertl and Fabian Zetterlund have scored three goals and five assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only six skaters have found the back of the net so far and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has been awful but the defense has also struggled, allowing 3.67 goals per game including eight goals in the last two games. Mario Ferraro and Kyle Burroughs have led the top two pairings with 30 blocked shots and 27 hits but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen has struggled with a .897 save percentage and a 3.60 goals-against average on 68 shots.
