San Jose Sharks (7-11-3) vs. Seattle Kraken (10-5-3)

The 2022-23 NHL betting action continues Wednesday with this Pacific Division battle when the San Jose Sharks travel to take on the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.

San Jose is coming off a 5-1 victory over Ottawa that helped the team salvage one of the three games on their recent homestand. The Kraken defeated the Los Angeles Kings in overtime on Saturday, 3-2, their third straight overtime contest. These teams have not faced each other this season, but Seattle took three of the four contests last year, including winning both games at home.

Kappo Kahkonen stopped 37 shots to lead the San Jose Sharks (7-11-3, 13-8 ATS) to a 5-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. The club had dropped the first two games of their three-game homestand but were able to salvage one thanks to three second-period goals. One of those goals came on the power-play, a welcome sight as the team is 21st in power-play efficiency (20.0%).

“I think we started a little bit sloppy, but we cleaned it up fairly quick,” Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson said. “And the last 40 minutes, I think we played like the better team and it was a nice, nice win for us to get at home. It's been a while.”

Luke Kunin had three assists for the Sharks and Logan Couture scored his 10th goal of the season as part of a two-point performance. However, the story was Kahkonen, who stopped 37 of 38 shots. That helped to move San Jose’s goals-against average to 3.29, 19th overall. The five goals were also a pleasant surprise, as the team is 23rd at 2.91 goals per game. The Sharks have the top penalty-killing unit in hockey (92.7%).
