The San Jose Sharks (6-17-0-2, 9-16 PL, 8-15-2 O/U) battle the New York Islanders (10-7-4-2, 11-12 PL, 12-10-1 O/U) in an inter-conference bout on Tuesday evening. The San Jose Sharks continue a daunting road trek. The squad is playing its best hockey of the season. San Jose had a disastrous opening month but has looked solid recently. They recently beat the Canucks, Capitals, and posted a stunning 6-3 road win against the Devils on Friday. They were dealt a narrow 6-5 loss by the Rangers on Sunday.

Tomas Hertl is producing, collecting nine points in his last ten games including an assist in the win on Friday and another assist on Sunday. The veteran center leads the Sharks with 18 points in 24 games. He was held pointless in two meetings against the Islanders last year. Mikael Granlund did almost nothing in the opening month but has been stellar recently. The 31-year-old center registered three points in the recent win against the Devils and now has 11 points on the year. William Eklund scored his fifth goal of the season on Friday and did not register a poi nt on Sunday. The 21-year-old center has recorded nine points on the season.

The Sharks give most of the starts in the net to Mackenzie Blackwood. The young goalie has been solid recently and has improved his GAA to 3.72 along with an .899 save % and a 3-11-2 record. Keaapo Kahkonen was in the net in Friday’s surprising win. The young goalie has issued a 3.99 GAA and an .896 save % accompanied by a 3-6 record.

San Jose is only averaging 1.6 goals, ranking them last. They are conceding an average of 3.9 goals which is also last in the NHL.
