The San Jose Sharks face the Carolina Hurricanes with both teams stumbling out of the gate to start the season. The Sharks have a 0-6-1 record which is the worst in the Western Conference while the Hurricanes have a 4-4 record and are in the middle of the Metropolitan Division. The Sharks hope to climb out of last place in the Pacific Division while the Hurricanes look to rebound in the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

Don't go ice-cold this hockey season. Our NHL Picks are sure to help you out.

The Sharks are having a rough season with their offense letting them down and scoring only 1.33 goals per game with only three goals in their last four games. Tomas Hertl, Fabian Zetterlund, and Filip Zadina have combined for five goals and five assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only two skaters have scored two goals or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense with ease.

The offense has been awful but the defense has also struggled, allowing only 3.67 goals per game. Mario Ferraro and Kyle Burroughs have led the top two pairings but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The one bright spot has been the play of goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood who has a .914 save percentage and a 3.47 goals-against average on 162 shots.
