San Jose Sharks vs. Calgary Flames Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-12-2023

San Jose Sharks (22-42-16) vs. Calgary Flames (37-27-17)

The ultimate week of the 2022-23 NHL regular season continues Wednesday, April 12, with the San Jose Sharks facing off against the Calgary Flames in the Pacific Division showdown at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta.

The Flames look to sweep a four-game regular-season series against the Sharks. Calgary opens as a firm -220 moneyline fave, while the totals are listed at 6.5 goals.

The San Jose Sharks are coming off Monday’s 6-2 defeat at the Winnipeg Jets. It was their fourth loss in a row, and the lowly Sharks allowed six goals for the third consecutive outing. Erik Karlsson gave the Sharks an early lead in Winnipeg, scoring after just 20 seconds of play in the first period, but the Jets turned the game on its head with four straight goals.

San Jose took just 21 shots toward Winnipeg’s goalie while surrendering 33 in return. Erik Karlsson finished the game with a couple of goals, and James Reimer had 27 stops.

“I think I’m physically and mentally in a good spot in my life and I’ve just been trying to keep it going day by day and keep the motivat ion going as best as possible,” Karlsson said. “You know, it’s been tough as of lately but I’ve managed a way to get it done and I’m happy about that.”

The Sharks are seventh in the Pacific Division with 60 points out of 80 games. They are 19 points behind the Vancouver Canucks and two ahead of the Anaheim Ducks, so this has been quite a disappointing campaign for the Sharks. San Jose ranks 25th in the NHL in goals for (2.88) and 30th in goals against (3.84).
