The San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers face off Thursday in an NHL showdown at the Madison Square Garden. When these two teams faced off on January 13th it was the Rangers that secured the 3-0 victory.

In the last game against the New York Islanders, the defense really struggled giving up five goals, and the offense only scored two goals. At the end of the first period, the Sharks were up 1-0, but the defense broke down in the last two periods. Evegny Svechinkov scored one goal and added another assist. San Jose is averaging 1.6 goals per game while their defense is giving up 3.8 goals per game. Kaapo Kahkonen is expected to be in goal and he sits with an 0-2 record and he is giving up 4.10 goals per game.
