The regular season wraps up Wednesday as the San Diego Padres host their NL West opponent, the San Francisco Giants. For the Giants, the season comes to an end, while the Padres have locked up a playoff spot and will be playing in the post season. Yu Darvish (16-8) gets the start for the Padres while Alex Cobb (7-7) takes the mound for the Giants.
After last season's incredible run where they won 107 games, the Giants took a step back this season. It wasn't a terrible season, but it was very average, as their 80-80 record, not including Tuesday's game, would indicate. But they found some magic at the end of the season, winning 11 of their last 13 games heading into this finale series with the Padres.

Alex Cobb gets the start for the Giants on Wednesday. Cobb is 7-7 on the season with an ERA of 3.79 in 27 starts. He has 144 strikeouts and 43 walks in 144.2 innings. In his last outing, he got a win over the Diamondbacks, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings with 5 strikeouts. The Giants have an ERA of 3.85, which is 12th in baseball. The bullpen has an ERA of 4.08, which ranks 20th in the league.
