San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-7-2022

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-42) will host the San Francisco Giants (65-68) in the final contest of this three-game series. The Dodgers have won 10 of the 14 head-to-head games in this rivalry for the season, but the Giants got the upset as a +185 underdog on Monday winning 7-4. The game on Tuesday night's game, was not complete at the time of this preview.

 

After losing seven straight games, the Giants concluded a three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, and carried that momentum into Monday's win over the Dodgers. There is still a lot of work to be done, in little time as the Giants trail the Padres by 7.5 games out of a wild card spot. They did see their playoff hopes jump “all the way up” to 0.9% from 0.5% chance to reach the postseason after Monday's win, according to ESPN. Unlike their 107-win 2021 season, the Giants' have struggled this season, mainly due to by average pitching and bad defense.

The offense ranks 11th scoring 4.5 runs per game and 13th with 151 home runs. The Giants erupted for five home runs on Monday night which included Lewis Brinson hitting his first two home runs of the season.

Alex Cobb who is 5-6 with a 3.58 ERA is scheduled to start on Wednesday. He has struggled on the road with a 5.06 ERA in nine starts, but has a 1-0 record in those games.
