San Francisco Giants vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-24-2023

The San Francisco Giants and Detroit Tigers will take the field on Monday at Comerica Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET.

San Francisco (54-45 SU and 50-48 RL) is starting right-hander Ross Stripling. The 33-year-old is 0-3 with a 5.92 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP in 14 games (9 starts).

Detroit (44-54 SU and 51-46 RL) is countering with lefty Tarik Skubal. The 26-year-old is 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP in three appearances (all starts) this season.

San Francisco is in the thick of the NL West title race and firmly in the Wild Card picture. Can SF keep its momentum over the next few weeks?

The Giants score 4.60 runs per game (13th) and hit .243 (19th) with a .720 OPS (19th). They've launched 115 home runs (13th) and stolen 46 bases (28th) this year. The SF pitching staff has posted a 3.98 ERA (11th) and a 1.26 WHIP (13th) with 34 quality starts (16th).

Stripling will take the hill for the visitors Monday afternoon. The veteran righty was handed the loss in his last start (three runs in six innings vs. Cincinnati). Stripling, who has surrendered three or fewer runs in five consecutive starts, made two appearances vs. the Tigers last season as a member of the Blue Jays. In those two starts, he held Detroit to two runs and six hits in 10.1 combined innings.
