San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-21-2022

The Colorado Rockies entered this series by putting an end to a five-game losing streak, and they’ll try to end it with another victory over the visiting San Francisco Giants. Colorado is currently dead last in the NL West division, but they’re still in reach of avoiding a last place finish. A win over a Giants team with a losing road record would definitely help on Sunday. Jakob Junis is expected to toe the rubber as the starting pitcher against Colorado’s Kyle Freeland.

The Giants haven’t played well on the road this season, and starting pitcher Jakob Junis hasn’t thrown well in daytime games. Both of those problems combined could go up in a cloud of smoke when facing the No. 1-ranked run-scoring offense in their home stadium. Things could get ugly fast and in a hurry if Junis stumbles on the mound.

He’s throwing a 5.58 ERA with a 2-2 record and eight walks in daytime games this season. Whether it’s a legitimate problem or not on Sunday remains to be seen. One thing is certain: The Rockies are hotter than fish grease when batting at their home stadium. It’s impossible to argue with a .285/.350/.456 slash line.

Junis must set the tone on the mound early in this game, and the bullpen has to follow his lead. The trouble for the Rockies has been on defense throughout the season. If the Giants are going to give u p a lot of runs, they have to make sure they have the bats to back it up. It could simply come down to fighting fire with fire.
