San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-20-2022

The Colorado Rockies (52-69) will host the San Francisco Giants (59-60) on Saturday night in the second game of a three-game series. The Rockies snapped their five-game winning streak with a 7-4 win over the Giants on Friday night, with Jose Urena getting the win to improve to 2-4 and Alex Wood dropping to 8-10 with the loss. The Giants now hold the season series edge 6 to 4.

The Giants' playoff hopes are not dead, but they missed out on an opportunity to get closer in the race by dropping their third straight game on Thursday. The Giants are 5.5 games out of a wild card spot and were unable to take advantage of Philadelphia, San Diego, and Milwaukee each losing their last game. San Francisco fell behind 7-0 in the fifth inning before responding with one run in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Looking to get the Giants back in the win column, Saturday will be 34-year-old right-hander Alex Cobb (4-6, 4.99 ERA). The Giants have lost four of the last five starts made by Cobb, but he did win his last contest, but only allowing one run in six innings on Monday, in a 6-1 victory over Arizona.

The Giants are 25-31 at home this season but are the third least profitable home team in MLB according to covers.com. Dating back to last season however, the Giants have won eight out of their last 10 games at Coors Field.
