San Francisco Giants vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-20-2023

The San Francisco Giants face the Cincinnati Reds with both teams looking to build off of great seasons. The Giants have a 54-42 record and with eight wins in their last 10 games, they are in second place in the National League West Division. The Reds have a 51-46 record and have the second-best record in the National League Central Division. For the final game of the series, the Giants will turn to Alex Cobb as their starting pitcher who has only allowed three runs in his last three starts while the Reds will turn to Andrew Abbott, who has allowed eight runs in the last two starts.

The Giants are having a great season and hope to make the divisional race a tight one in the upcoming months. Alex Cobb has been great in recent starts but has struggled this year, allowing 32 runs in 95.2 innings pitched. In addition, with a .264 expected opponent Batting Average, a 45.2 Hard-Hit Percentage, and a 4.14 expected ERA, opponents are making contact and crushing pitches against Cobb to drive in runs.

While Cobb has had a rocky year, the lineup has carried the Giants, scoring 4.72 runs per game. Wilmer Flores is slashing .292/.348/.520 with 11 home runs and 105 total bases while LaMonte Wade Jr. is slashing .274/.405/.432 with 115 total bases to carry the top of the lineup but the rest of the batting order has stepped up as well. Joc Pederson is slashing .235/.363/.421 with 77 total bases while Michael Conforto and Mike Yastrzemski have added 24 home runs and 220 total bases to add depth to the lineup, making the Giants lineup tough to stop.
