San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-24-2022

The San Francisco Giants (73-77, 71-79 RL, 69-73-8 O/U) take on the Arizona Diamondbacks (70-81, 87-64 RL, 67-79-5 O/U)  in the second of a three-game series on Saturday evening. The Giants send Alex Cobb to the hill. The Diamondbacks will reply with Merrill Kelly. The Diamondbacks lead the season series 8-5.

The Giants will give Alex Cobb the nod on Saturday. Cobb was solid in his previous start, limiting the potent Dodgers to only two runs on four hits in 5.1 innings, resulting in a no-decision in a game the Giants lost by a 4-3 score. The veteran right-hander features a stifling 1.90 ERA this month and has a 3.48 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP accompanied by a 6-6 record in 134.2 innings pitched on the season. Cobb has held Arizona to eight runs (seven earned) in 18 innings this year and stands at 1-1 with a 5.14 ERA in four career meetings spanning 21 innings against the foes.

San Francisco has been a streaky team recently. They had lost three in a row and rebounded by winning all four bouts of a four-game series at Coors Field this week. The Giants stand at 6-4 in their last ten clashes overall and are seven games below .500 on the road.

Joey Bart is a young player that the Giants are hoping can develop into a dangerous hitter. The 25-year-old catcher has struggled recently and has 23 RBIs accompanied by a .678 OPS on the season. Bart is hitting a solid .304 with an .855 OPS against the Diamondbacks.

The Giants are posting 4.37 runs per game, ranking them 13th overall. The pitching staff is carrying a 3.83 team ERA, placing them 10th in the big leagues.
