San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-23-2022

The San Francisco Giants (73-77, 71-79 RL, 69-73-8 O/U) battle the Arizona Diamondbacks (70-80, 86-65 RL, 67-78-8 O/U) as the division rivals open a three-game series on Friday evening. The Giants will give the nod to Carlos Rodon. The Diamondbacks have yet to name a starter. The Diamondbacks lead the season series 8-5.

The Giants will have Carlos Rodon on the hill to begin the series. Rodon was stellar in his previous start, limiting the Braves to only one run in five innings, and registered the win to lift his record to 13-8. The Giants’ ace features a minuscule 1.10 ERA this month and has posted a stifling 2.84 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP in 167.2 innings of work on the season. Rodon has not fared well against the Diamondbacks this season, allowing 10 runs with an 0-2 in 17 innings, marking his only three career meetings against the foes.

The Giants were issued a sweep by the Dodgers last weekend and rebounded with a convincing four-game sweep against the Rockies at Coors Field this week. The bats have been inconsistent recently and they stand at 6-4 in their last ten games.

Wilmer Flores has broken out of his slump at the plate, collecting four RBIs in his last five games. The veteran second baseman recently signed a contract extension and has 19 big flies along with 69 RBIs and a .731 OPS on the year. Flores has delivered five RBIs against the Diamondbacks.

The Giants are scoring an average of 4.38 runs per game, rankings them 13th overall. The pitching staff has posted a 3.86-team ERA, good for 11th in the big leagues.
