San Francisco rookie quarterback Brock Purdy continues on in what can only be described as a dream season. On Sunday Purdy, the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, passed for 219 yards and went 19-of-29 without an interception in leading the Niners into the NFC title game with a 19-12 win over Dallas. The rookie was sacked two times but led the 49ers on five scoring drives, the last of which led to the team's only touchdown on a 2-yard run by Christian McCaffrey to seal the win.

“Man, we’re just excited that we won,” said Purdy, the 49ers' unbeaten rookie quarterback. “Everyone did their part. It’s playoff football, it’s never easy, but we’re moving on.”

The 49ers defense did their part in the game as usual. San Francisco held the Cowboys to just one touchdown and two field goals in the game. The Niners picked off Dallas QB Dak Prescot t twice and recorded one sack in the win. The 49ers held the Dallas ground attack to just 76 yards on the ground for just 3.5 yards per carry. All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner had another outstanding day. Warner had a game-high nine tackles and had an interception of Prescott to set up a score.

Despite starting its third quarterback of the season, it is hard to argue that the 49ers might be the most talented team left in the NFL playoffs. Even Purdy has more than done his part, with a perfect 7-0 record as a starter heading into the NFC title game. The addition of McCaffrey at the trade deadline has been the most telling factor, however. The 49ers offense has become much less predictable and harder to handle. SF ranked 4th in the NFL in points per game in the regular season and are 4th in the playoffs as well. In the regular season SF was 7th in rushing offense and the team has moved to third in the playoffs. In the passing game, featuring the inexperienced Purdy, the Niners were ranked 13th in the regular season and are 4th in the playoffs. In particular, since Purdy took over, TE George Kittle has come alive with 29 catches for 425 yards and even touchdowns. SF was #1 in turnover differential during the regular season and have been #2 in the playoffs. O ne area of concern for SF has been the team's struggles to turn red zone opportunities into touchdowns. The 49ers rank 20th in the NFL in that category.

Defensively, the 49ers have been stellar all season. SF was ranked first during the regular season in points allowed per game and rank fourth in the playoffs. The Niners were 2nd against the run during the regular season and are third in the postseason. If the pass rush doesn't get home, the 49ers can be susceptible to the pass as they finished 19th in the NFL in pass defense. In the playoffs, they rank sixth. The Niners have struggled a bit to keep teams out of the end zone once they enter the red zone, ranking 18th in the NFL.

Key Injuries: RBs Christian McCaffrey (calf) and Elijah Mitchell (groin) both were limited in practice but they will be a full go this week. WR Deebo Samuel and CB Ambry Thomas were both limited with ankle injuries but they will go as well.
