The San Diego Padres have had an up-and-day season for a team 11 games above .500. Coming into Monday, they are holding a 1.5 game edge over the Brewers for the final wild-card spot. According to ESPN, the Padres have a 64% chance of reaching the postseason. After winning 13-5 on Friday, and 4-3 on Saturday, the Padres were blown out 15-7 on Sunday, failing to sweep the Royals. They are now 5-5 in their last 10 ball games.
Mike Clevinger (4-5, 3.59 ERA) will start on Monday. He is 3-2 with a 4.02 ERA in 10 road appearances. He has not faced the Giants since 2020m when he tossed seven shutout innings of two-hit ball in a seven-inning game.

Offensively the Padres have been inconsistent. The lineup is potent, but they scored three runs of less in eight of their last 12 games. They have had some big breakout performances scoring seven runs or more in three of their last four road games.
