San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-11-2023

The San Diego Padres (6-4, 6-4 RL 6-4 O/U) take on the New York Mets (5-5, 6-4 RL, 6-3-1 O/U) in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday evening. The Padres will have Ryan Weathers on the hill. The Mets will have David Peterson on the bump. The Padres posted a 4-2 record against the Mets last season and also eliminated them in the postseason.

Ryan Weathers is on the hill for the second time of the season on Tuesday. Weathers was solid in his first start, holding the rival Diamondbacks to only two runs on five hits in five innings, resulting in a no-decision in a game the D-Backs won. The young lefty only appeared in one game last season and had trouble in his 2021 rookie season, amassing a 5.32 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP accompanied by a 4-7 record in 94.2 innings pitched. This is his first career meeting against the Mets. 

San Diego is playing with confidence. They won three of four meetings against the Braves prior to this series and are playing the fifth of a six-game road trip in this one. The wins in Atlanta marked their first series victory after splitting the Rockies and Diamondbacks in their first two series of the season. They have scored at least five runs in five of their last six clas hes. 

Xander Bogaerts continues to deliver with his new squad. The veteran shortstop has recorded at least one base hit in all but one game this season and has three home runs, eight RBIs, and a dazzling 1.07 OPS. He has eight RBIs in 48 career at-bats against the Mets. 

San Diego is averaging 5.00 runs per game, ranking them 12th. They have posted a 4.22 team ERA, placing them 15th.
