San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-7-2022

The top two teams in the NL West will meet on Sunday Night Baseball when the Los Angeles Dodgers (74-33) go for the three-game sweep against the San Diego Padres (61-49). The Dodgers have taken the first two games of the series winning 8-1 on Friday and 8-3 on Saturday.

The San Diego Padres made one of the biggest trade deadline deals in MLB history acquiring Josh Bell and Juan Soto from the Washington Nationals last week. Whether are not the deal made the Padres the best team in the NL is still up in the air, but currently, the Dodgers still look like the team to beat, as the Padres head into Sunday on a three-game losing streak. Soto is 5 for 14 since joining the Padres, and Josh Bell is 3 for 12, but San Diego is just 1-3 in four game with them both in the lineup so far.

On the season, the Padres are 15th scoring 4.46 runs per game, 17th with a .242 batting average, and 24th hitting .90 home runs per game. Defensively they are fifth with a .232 batting average against and ninth holding opponents to 4.08 runs per game.

Yu Darvish (10-3, 3.30 ERA) will make the start on Sunday. In 10 road starts, Darvish is 4-3 with a 4.50 ERA on the road. Against the Dodgers this season, he is 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA.
