The San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks will wrap up their four-game weekend series in Arizona on Sunday afternoon. The Padres' roster is now rounding into shape with the return of Fernando Tatis Jr. to begin this series while the Diamondbacks have started the season at the top of the NL West Division standings. Tatis will now assume the leadoff spot in the order and play right field with free-agent acquisition Xander Bogaerts now the team's everyday shortstop. In Tatis' debut on Thursday night, the Padres took the win in a 7-5 victory. On Friday night, the Padres bats were silenced in a 9-0 loss. San Diego's bullpen allowed seven runs in two innings of relief. Saturday night, the Padres won again thanks to a solid return from starting pitcher Joe Musgrove, who went five innings and allowed seven hits and three runs in his first start of the season. Tatis Jr. belted his first home run since 2021 to support Musgrove.
