San Diego Padres at New York Mets 10/7/22 – MLB Picks & Predictions

The San Diego Padres travel to the East Coast Friday night for game one of the National League wildcard against the New York Mets. San Diego finished the regular season 16 games above .500 after an 8-1 loss San Francisco in the final day of the season. Craig Stammen took the mound for San Diego giving up five runs on six hits across three innings leading to the loss. The San Diego bullpen struggled as well allowing three more runs on six more hits across the final six innings of the game.

Offensively San Diego was terrible with only four hits in 30 at bats including 1-2 with runners in scoring position to leave three men on base. Manny Machado was the biggest spark in the San Diego lineup with two hits in four at bats, while Jake Cronenworth chipped in one hit as well to drive in the only San Diego run.

The New York Mets come into the playoffs on a three-game win streak following a blowout over the Nationals in the final game of the year. Mychael Givens got the start for New York giving up no runs on one hit across only one inning leading to a no decision. Trevor Williams came on in relief to allow two runs on six hits over 6 innings leading to the victory.
