The San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers face off on Wednesday in an MLB showdown at Comerica Park. The two teams have split the first two games between these two teams.
The Padres sit with a 55-44 record overall and although it took extra innings they were able to secure a two-run victory on Tuesday. In the first game, the pitching really struggled, but it looked a lot better on Tuesday. The strength this season for the Padres has been the pitching giving up 4.07 runs per game which is 9th in the league. Manny Machado has hit 16 home runs and driven in 54 RBIs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Tigers who sit with a 39-59 record overall and this is clearly a team that is still rebuilding. Far too often this season the Tigers offense has had some major issues scoring. The Tigers are averaging 3.22 runs per game which is last in the MLB. One problem for this Tigers offense is they have too many guys who have been major disappointments. Javier Baez has driven in 39 RBIs,but even that hasn’t been enough.
