San Diego at St. Mary's – 12/29/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The San Diego Torreros will head to Northern California and meet the Saint Mary’s Gaels this Thursday in WCC action on ESPN. This will mark the 90th time these two Golden state schools cross paths, and St. Mary's hold a massive 56-33 lead after winning each of the last 16 meetings.

San Diego dropped to 7-7 after a road loss to in-state foe CSU Northridge. The Torreros failed to hold onto a small halftime lead, and dropped their final non-conference game to the Matadors, 83-78. San Diego is scoring 79.5 points per game, while allowing 74.1 ppg, and shooting 33.5% from the floor.

San Diego has being without four-year starter Jase Townsend, and two-time transfer Eric Williams has stepped up in his absence. The 6’7 swingman posted back-to-back double-doubles against ASU and Riverside, and he’s leading USD in scoring (15.2) and rebounding (10.5). Fifth-year senior Marcellus Earlington (14.7 ppg, 6.2 rpg) has also picked things up, scoring 21 or more in three straight Golden state matchups over the past two weeks. Weber State transfer Sigu Sisoho Jawara has joined in on the festivities, combining for 54 points in the last two games.
