San Diego at Santa Clara Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/9/23

The San Diego Toreros will head up to Northern California to face the Santa Clara Broncos in WCC action from the Leavey Center. Santa Clara leads the all-time series, 51-38, after winning five of the last six meetings.

San Diego moved to 11-14 after defeating LMU at home. The Toreros outgunned the Lions in a typical-USD high scoring clash, 87-79. San Diego is scoring 78.2 points per game, while allowing 79.4 ppg, and shooting 45.3% from the floor.

Each of San Diego’s last four wins have been followed by a pair of losses, and unfortunately there’s a good chance of that trend continuing here. The Toreros are 4-7 in WCC play, with a 3-5 road record. Marcellus Earlington (17.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg) leads USD in scoring 24 points or more in five of the last six games. Jase Townsend is second on the team at 15.4 ppg, but he missed the LMU game, and USD might really struggle with him on the road here. Leading rebounder Eric Williams also missed the contest, and his absence may glare even more against a lengthy SCU squad.
