The San Antonio Spurs should consider themselves lucky that the Pistons broke the record for most consecutive losses, because it hides the fact that the Spurs have almost been equally as bad. The Spurs have the worst record in the Western Conference, and only have five wins heading into January. San Antonio has lost seven of their last eight, with their lone win coming over the Blazers. In their last game, the Spurs were led by Devin Vassell with 22 points in the loss to Boston.

Victor Wembanyama leads the team in points, rebounds, steals and blocks in his rookie season. He averages 18.9 PPG and 10.3 RPG, and is not shy from the perimeter as he averages almost five three-point attempts per game. Wemby recently had a seven block game in the win over Portland. Devin Vassell is their top scorer on the perimeter, he adds 18.3 PPG, and is the top shooter on the team with 2.6 made threes per game on 36.5% shooting from deep. Keldon Johnson is another scorer on the wing, but is questionable for this game with an injury. Jeremy Sochan is a 6'8 point-forward adding 10.8 PPG and 5.6 RPG.

Tre Jones leads the team in assists, though he comes off the bench to do it. Jones is averaging 4.9 passists per game to go with his 8.2 PPG. Malaki Branham is another wing scorer, he adds 9.2 PPG and may be asked to score more if Johnson is out. The Spurs rank 29th in the league in offensive efficiency and 25th in defensive efficiency according to dunksandthrees.com. The young Spurs play fast, they have the 3rd fastest tempo in the NBA.
