Sam Houston State vs. UL Monroe Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-14-2022

The UL Monroe Warhawks (3-7) host the Sam Houston State Bearkats (7-2) for a 7:30 p.m. ET matchup on Wednesday. The Bearkats are 12-point favorites with the total set at 129.5 points.

Sam Houston State has dropped two of its last three games, including a 65-51 loss to Oklahoma State last time out, following six-consecutive wins to open the season. The Bearkats were certainly off their game in that previous performance, making just 17 of their 49 attempts (35%) against OSU. Senior guards Qua Grant and Donte Powers led SHSU in the Dec. 6 loss with 15 and 10 points, respectively. You either win or learn as they say, and the Bearkats have fortunately had a week in between games to regroup from that poor shooting performance.

Grant and Powers also pace the team in scoring, posting 23.3 points per game combined. Grant holds the top spot in assists (4.6 apg) and steals (2.6 stl) too, as Powers adds 3.2 boards and 1.4 assists per contest. Sam Houston State is averaging 79 points per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent from three ahead of their second-straight road test. Entering their first meeting since Feb. 4 2006, SHSU and ULM are tied at 19-19 in the all-time series.
