The Rams' best path to victory lies in exploiting the Saints' clear rush defense weakness. And then they can finish a march down the field while leaning on a white-hot running back who's scored four times over his last four games.
Yes, the Saints haven't allowed a touchdown to anyone over the past two weeks, surrendering just 12 points total. But those stingy outings came against the lowly offenses for the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers. Prior to that, New Orleans surrendered five rushing touchdowns during a three-game losing streak.
The Saints' defense also ranks a middling 13th in red-zone touchdown rate (52.6%), leading to opportunities to reach paydirt if Los Angeles plows ahead smoothly whil e leaning on its workhorse tailback.

Williams comes with high eruption potential on Thursday in an ideal matchup.
The second-year back has incredibly produced two games with 140-plus rushing yards over his last four contests since returning from an injury, averaging 124.3 yards on the ground and 5.6 per carry during that stretch. Williams has easily been able to take advantage of similarly inviting matchups while roasting the Washington Commanders and their 21st-ranked run defense for 152 yards, and posting 143 against the Arizona Cardinals and their 31st-ranked unit.
Now he gets to run wild on a Saints run defense that's firmly in the same basement tier while giving up 126.4 yards per game. That's why we can feel free to be a little aggressive with the alternative line of Over 99.5 yar ds, which doesn't sit too far above projection models giving Williams a total in the low 90s.
The other motivation is the juicy price, with bet365's offering sitting far above the +100 at DraftKings, and still ahead of a +120 price at FanDuel.

The Saints' defense is imposing despite the unit's weakness against the run, as the team sits sixth after coughing up 19.1 points per game.
But again, the Saints have been benefitting from suffocating weak offenses. Beyond two matchups with the Panthers (29th in scoring) and one with the Giants (31st), New Orleans has also teed off on two other offenses that sit in the bottom seven of the league (Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons).
Conversely, the Rams boast a top-10 scoring unit en tering Week 16. The Saints have come up against just two such offenses in 2023, giving up 28 points to the Detroit Lions and 38 to the Indianapolis Colts.
