Against Penn State, Rutgers' offense produced just nine first downs and threw for 135 yards. QB Gavin Wimsatt completed just 10 of 29 for 122 yards with a TD and a pick.

The offense and special teams put the defense behind the eight ball as the Nittany Lions scored their first TD on a 100-yard kickoff return and their second on a 14-yards fumble recovery for a score. Their problems on offense emanate from the starting quarterback position. Evan Simon, a 6-3 sophomore, completed 5 of 5 against Penn State, But he's been inconsistent, completing 59.4% of his passes for 758 yards with four TDs and six picks. Wimsatt has been inaccurate, completing 45.8% of his passes for 709 yards with five TDs and seven picks.
