The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will look to pick up a second straight win and improve to 7-3 in Big Ten play this season. Rutgers, with 14 wins on the season, is in line to earn another NCAA Tournament invite this season and has a shot to make noise in the Big Ten tournament later this season. On Tuesday night, the Scarlet Knights rolled to an easy 65-45 win over Penn State at home. Aundre Hyatt led the way with 14 points and the Rutgers defense was dominant in the home win. Rutgers held Penn State to a season-low in points and a season-low in three-point field goals. In addition, the Scarlet Knights kept Penn State to just 33% shooting from the field overall.

“(It was) a great environment today,” head coach Steve Pikiell said. “Thank you to our students that got here early. They were loud. Ton of respect for Penn State. Coach (Micah) Shrewsberry is doing an unbelievable job. They've got really good players who can r eally shoot the ball. They're a unique team but I thought we did a really good job defending, right back to Rutgers basketball the way we defended for 40 minutes. Great team win. Everyone contributed, these guys were great. Aundre (Hyatt) had an unbelievable second half and Paul (Mulcahy) does what he does. Cliff (Omoruyi), for the entire game rebounding, (his) presence in the paint, whole nine yards. It was a Coaches vs. Cancer game today too. Amy Nolan's our point person for that so I want to thank her for the work she did to make it even more special here. It's just a good team win. We got a well-earned day off tomorrow for these guys.”

Rutgers has been led by its defense, ranked fifth in the country in scoring defense and first in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knights are also fifth in the country in field goal defense and 13th in 3pt defense. Rutgers is ninth in the nation in rebounding and 4th in the Big Ten.
