Rory McIlroy Shares Emotional Message After Winning THE CJ CUP and Reclaiming World No. 1 Spot

When Rory McIlroy bust on the scene as a youngster and started winning majors, there was conversation of "the next Tiger" being thrown around about it. Honestly, for a bit, that was warranted. While Rory has always been near the top of the world rankings, and many still consider him to be the most talented player in the world right now, he has not held the designation of No. 1 in the world since July of 2020.

With his win at this past week's THE CJ CUP, his second consecutive win at the event, he is now once again the No. 1 player in the world according to the Official World Golf Rankings. McIlroy took to Twitter to share the emotional moment with his fans following his big win.

Still just 33 years of age, Rory still has plenty of years of elite golf left in him, and could very well add a handful of additional major championship wins to his collection. It's clear his hard work has been paying off and this milestone might just be the boost he needs to get over the hump on the game's biggest stages once again.
