The sixth-seeded Robert Morris Colonels and the third-seeded Cleveland State Vikings will square off in the quarterfinals of the Barbasol Horizon League Championship on Thursday night at the Wolstein Center. The Colonels are 16-16 (10-10) so far and are coming off a 67-64 home win on Tuesday against the IUPUI Jaguars to advance to the quarterfinals. The Vikings are 19-12 (14-6) right now and are coming off an 81-72 road loss on Saturday against the Milwaukee Panthers. These programs met twice during the regular season with the Vikings winning both, but they were single-digit games.
The Detroit Mercy Titans were able to survive and advance as they picked up a 67-64 home win in the first round against the IUPUI Jaguars. They survived a tough second half as they were outscored 44-33. They shot the ball at a or level as they were 19-of-53 (35.8 percent) overall, 7-of-25 (28 percent) from three, and 33 free-throw attempts. Senior forward Khahliel Spear led the team as in 35 minutes he finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and three steals. Defensively, they struggled a bit as they allowed 45.1 percent from the floor and 40 percent from deep here. Robert Morris did well as they finished with six steals and blocks throughout the game after forcing 13 turnovers.
