Rider went 16-14 last season and 13-7 in the MAAC with three returning starters so expectations are pretty high. They were expected to lose to Nebraska (64-50) and Marquette (95-65) on the road. But losses at Duquesne (77-58) by 19 and at Stony Brook (55-48) on Nov. 20 were a bit troubling. Rider shot just 33% from the field in the game as UMass transfer guard TJ Weeks Jr. (8.8ppg last year) had a rough game with three points on 1-of-9 shooting. Rider also shot 14% (3-of-21) from three-point range.

Overall, Mervin James averages 15.4 points per game on 53.3% shooting with 7.2 rebounds. The 6-7, 215-pound forward has improved his three-point shooting as well and is making 37.5% from long range. Guard Corey McKeithan adds 10.2 points and 3.4 rebounds on 41.9% shooting from the field. They are averaging just 66.8 points per game on 39.3% shooting (333rd) and 25.2% from beyond the arc (349th). They are also struggling from the line (60.8%) to rank 342nd. On defense, they've been pretty good, allowing 40.2% shooting and 29.2% (92nd) from long range.
