The Richmond Spiders are struggling to the end of the season as they await the A-10 tournament. Richmond has lost two of its last three games, including a 73-58 loss to VCU on Saturday. After a close game for much of the first half, the Spiders watched as VCU went on a 26-6 run that put the game out of reach. Neal Quinn led the Spiders with a season-high 21 points as he took it to VCU in the paint. Unfortunately, Richmond allowed 13 VCU offensive rebounds in the first half as the game completely turned around.

“The biggest thing that hurt us in that first half was offensive rebounds,” said Richmond head coach Peter Thomas of the difference makers during VCU's 26-6 stretch. “And a couple of those offensive rebounds led to some big plays. … Those kind of plays in this environment really spark them and get them going.”

Richmond will have to make a deep run in the A-10 Tournament in order to earn a postseason invitation to the NIT. Richmond is 11th in the A-10 in scoring. The Spiders are 9th in field goal percentage and eighth in 3pt offense. Richmond has struggled on the glass, just 11th in the conference in rebounding. The Spiders are sixth in scoring defense, ninth in opponent's field goal percentage, and 11th in 3pt defense in the A-10. Richmond is very efficient, however, ranking second in the conference in fewest turnovers per game.
