The Richmond Spiders will travel to Ohio to take on the Toledo Rockets in non-conference action this Wednesday from the Savage Arena.
Richmond improved to 3-3 after a win over former A-10 rival Temple. The Spiders responded to an OT loss to Syracuse with a strong effort on both sides of the ball in Philly, outscoring the Owls by six points in each half en route to snapping their three-game skid. Richmond is scoring 68.7 points per game, while shooting 42.8% from the floor, and 33.8% from deep.
Tyler Burton leads a brand new Richmond team that lost four seniors. Burton hung a career-high 38 points on College of Charleston, and he double-doubled in the loss to Syracuse. . Burton is posting team leads in scoring (17.8) and rebounding (9.2). Wofford transfer Isaiah Bigelow joins him in the front court, and after a double-double in the loss to Wichita, he’s up to 10.3 ppg and 5.7 rpg. True freshman Jason Nelson has the tall task of replacing Jacob Gilyard, but he’s off to a solid start and averaging 13.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 4.0 apg..
