Purdue at Penn State – 1/8/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Purdue Boilermakers will travel and take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in Big Ten play from The Palestra. Purdue leads the all-time series, 43-13, after winning 13 of the last 14 meetings.

Purdue improved to 14-1 after defeating Ohio State in Columbus. The Boilermakers avoided a second straight loss by rallying from a ten-point halftime deficit to beat the Buckeyes, 71-69. Purdue is scoring 75.9 points per game, while allowing 61.4 ppg, and shooting 45.4% from the field.

Purdue’s run atop the AP polls may be short-lived after the home loss to Rutgers, but nabbing a second straight road win here would not hurt their case to remain. The Boilermakers have been sharp this season, with the one-point defeat being their lone blemish. Purdue has leaned on the physical presence of Zach Edey in full so far. The 7’2 center went for a monstrous 31-point double-double in win over Minnesota, and leads the Big Ten in scoring (21.4) and rebounding (13.2). Freshman guard Fletcher Loyer went a for a season-high 23 points in the win over Nebraska, and he’s second on the team in scoring at 12.1 ppg.
