The Purdue Boilermakers and Nebraska Cornhuskers face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at Pinnacle Bank Arena. When these two teams faced off in January it was Purdue that secured the 92-65 victory.
Purdue comes into this game with a 9-0 record and they have gone 4-4-1 against the spread. Purdue has had a strong start to the season, and this looks like a team that could win the National Championship. In the last game against Hofstra, the offense scored 85 points, and that led to the 19 point victory. The Boilermakers are averaging 79.3 points while their defense is giving up 62.4 points per game. The defense is ranked 51st in college basketball. Center Zach Edey is having a strong season averaging 23.2 points while shooting 60.8 percent from the field.
On the other side of this matchup is Nebraska who sits with a 6-4 record and they have gone 4-6 against the spread. In the last game against Indiana the offense only scored 65 points, and that led to the 16 point defeat. Nebraska is averaging 69.4 points while their defense is giving 65.6 points per game. The defense overall hasn’t been awful, but the offense hasn’t been good enough. C.J. Wilcher is averaging 11.4 points while shooting 37.1 percent from the field. Sam Grisel is dealing with an illness and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game.
