Can the Providence College Friars repeat their magical run through the Big East that they had in 2021-22 with a new cast of characters this season? The one constant will be head coach Ed Cooley, who has got the Friars' faithful firmly in his corner. The Friars come into their Big East opener winners of three straight games to close out their non-conference schedule for the season. Providence College defeated Albany on Saturday at home, 93-55. Ed Croswell led the way with a season-high 18 points while adding seven rebounds. Rafael Castro, one of this season's newcomers, had his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Another youngster, freshman Jayden Pierre, had a career-high 11 assists for a Friars' team that had six players finish in double-figure scoring. The defending Big East regular season champs are now ready to defend their crown.

“We have a legit feeling of who we are as we get ready to go into BIG EAST play,” Head Coach Ed Cooley said. “I am proud of the way we came out and took care of business over the last three games.”

The Friars are scoring just over 80 points per game to start the season and have a +13 scoring margin thus far. Providence, despite welcoming in several new faces, is shooting 48% from the field thus far. The Friars have dominated the glass, averaging nearly 40 rebounds per game while holding the opposition to under 30 boards per game. Providence moves the ball well offensively, averaging over 15.5 assists per game. The Friars are turning the ball over slightly more than 12 times per game while forcing 13 per contest.
