The Providence Friars will head down to Manhattan to meet the St. John’s Red Storm in Big East play from Madison Square Garden on FOX. Providence holds a narrow lead in the all-time series of, 52-50, after winning the last three meetings.

Providence improved to 18-6 after defeating Georgetown at home. The Friars led the Hoyas throughout the contest, and came away with the 12-point win. Providence scores 78.4 points per game, while allowing 68.6 ppg, and shooting 46.8% from the field.

Providence has won four of their last five games since dropping a pair of road contests to Creighton and Marquette, and they’re right in the mix to win the conference regular season crown. The Friars are 10-3 in Big East play, with a 5-4 road record. UK transfer Bryce Hopkins has blossomed with Ed Cooley at Providence, and he leads the Friars in scoring (16.1) and rebounding (9.2). Former SC guard Devin Carter scored 19 points in the first win over St. John’s last month, and he’s second on the team at 13.1 ppg. Fifth-year forward Ed Croswell scored a season-high 21 points against Xavier, and he’s averaging 12.9 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Veteran leader Jared Bynum returned just in time to face his old team, and after scoring 19 points in the win over Villanova, the former SJU guard is up to 9.4 ppg and a team-lead 4.3 apg.
