Providence at Marquette Prediction – Basketball Picks 1/18/23

The Providence Friars will head over to Milwaukee to meet the Marquette Golden Eagles from the Fiserv Forum on the CBSSN. Marquette and Providence have faced off 35 times, with the Golden Eagles holding a 21-14 series lead.

Providence improved to 14-4 after losing to Creighton in Omaha. The Friars found themselves down at the halftime break, and ended up losing to the Bluejays, 73-67. Providence scores 79.2 points per game, while allowing 68.3 ppg, and shooting 46.6 from the floor.

Providence had their nine-game win streak snapped, and with a light home stretch with DePaul and Butler looming, they shouldn’t miss a beat. UK transfer Bryce Hopkins has quickly become a star with Providence. The 6’7 swingman had an iconic 29-point, 23-rebound performance in the first win over Marquette, and he poured in a game-high 27 points versus UConn. Hopkins leads the Friars in scoring (16.2) and rebounding (9.1). Former SC guard Devin Carter has scored 19 points or more in four of the last six games, and he’s second on the team at 12.8 ppg. Fifth-year big Ed Croswell has double-doubled in three of the last five games, and he’s averaging career-highs of 12.7 ppg and 7.7 rpg.
