Portland Trail Blazers vs. New York Knicks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-9-2024

The Portland Trailblazers visit the new-look New York Knicks on Tuesday night in an inter-conference matchup. The Blazers have been slow out of the gate as they adjust to life without Dame Lillard this season. They are just 10-25 heading into Tuesday night's action. The Knicks, fresh off a trade that has altered the look and feel of the roster, have been playing good basketball as of late and are coming off back-to-back wins over the weekend. The opening tap on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.

The Portland Trail Blazers long and tedious road back to relevancy continues on Tuesday night as they battle the Knicks in New York City. On Sunday, the Blazers picked up an impressive 134-127 overtime win at nearby Brooklyn against the Nets. Anfernee Simons had a huge night with 38 points and 11 assists while veteran Malcolm Brogdon scored eight of his 18 points in overtime to lead the Blazers to a nice road win. Jerami Grant chipped in with 27 points while Duop Reath added a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds.

“We definitely needed it,” Brogdon said. “To pull a win like this out, this is a team competing for a playoff spot, it’s a really good win for us.

“I think we’re a young team, we’re inexperienced to put a full 48 minutes together. Tonight we were able to put 53 minutes together, so I’m proud of this group.”

The Blazers come into this game with the 29th-ranked scoring offense in the NBA. They are last in the league in field goal percentage and just 22nd in 3-point shooting. The Blazers are 18th in scoring defense this season as well. The team is 26th in field goal defense but an impressive third in 3-point defense. They are 21st in turnovers per game this season while they are 22nd in total rebounds per game.

Key Injuries: C DeAndre Ayton is out.
