Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Pelicans Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-12-2023

The New Orleans Pelicans host the Portland Trail Blazers Sunday night in a key battle between two teams looking to sneak into the Western Conference playoffs. The Pelicans hold the 10th and final playoff spot in the conference while the Blazers are in 13th place, but only 1.5 games behind New Orleans. These two rivals have split two games this season, with the road team winning both. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. EST at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

The Blazers are 13th in the Western Conference with a record of 31-36. They are wrapping up a tough road trip where they are 2-3, but have played pretty well. On Friday night they lost a heartbreaker to the Philadelphia 76ers by the score of 120-119. They were done in by MVP candidate and the NBA's leading scorer, Joel Embiid, who hit the game winning fade away jumper with 1.1 seconds left. That was game time, not Dame time.

Embiid had a stellar game, leading all scorers with 39 points. Anfernee Simons returned from injury and had a great game as well, dropping 34 points on 8 of 12 shooting from three point range. Jerami Grant added 24 points and 10 rebounds while Damian Lillard tossed in 22 points and dished out 11 assists. The Blazers shot 52% from the floor and made 15 threes, but it was not enough.
