Portland Trail Blazers (16-12) vs. Dallas Mavericks (14-14)

The 2022-23 NBA season goes on with ten games on Friday’s slate including the Western Conference showdown between the Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks. The tip-off is set for 8:30 PM ET, and the Trail Blazers head to American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, as 3.5-point underdogs with a total of 220.5 points.

Portland cannot count on Nassir Little (hip) and Gary Payton II (conditioning). Dallas, on the other side, misses Josh Green (elbow) and Maxi Kleber (hamstring).

The Portland Trail Blazers (16-12; 19-9 ATS) have won five of their last six games overall. Last Wednesday, the Trail Blazers easily outlasted the San Antonio Spurs 128-112 as 7-point road favorites, extending their winning streak to three games. Portland made 60.5% of its field goals (18-for-40 from downtown) and handed out 26 assists, while the Spurs shot 46.4% from the field and missed eight of their 19 free-throw attempts.

Damian Lillard dropped 37 points on San Antonio, going 7-for-14 from beyond the arc. He also had eight assists, five rebounds, and a couple of steals. Anfernee Simmons accounted for 23 points and four dimes, while Jerami Grant had 18 points and four boards.

“His pace, his change of speed is so good right now,” Portland coach Chauncey Billups said of Damian Lillard. “In pick-and-rolls, he’s keeping the defense off kilter so well. Obviously, he’s such a threat to shoot it from wherever, but he’s getting to that basket and he’s making that extra play, the passes for the team. He’s setting an incredible tone for us every night.”

Lillard has been unstoppable so far this season, tallying 28.8 points and 7.1 assists a night. He’s averaged 34.4 points on 50.7% shooting from deep over his previous five appearances. The Trail Blazers hold the seventh-highest offensive rating in the NBA, tallying 115.1 points per 100 possessions. They are third in the league in 3-point percentage (39.0%) and seventh in triples made per 100 possessions (13.1).
